Coordination of SRI test phase
The SRI test phase in Cyprus is led by the MECI – Ministry of Energy, Commerce, and Industry.
Several LIFE projects have been active in the country and supported related activities: Smart Square, SRI2MARKET, easySRI, SmarterEPC.
Timeline of SRI test phase
The Cypriot test phase started in July 2024 and the final report was submitted to the European Commission in Q3 2025.
Activities carried out during the SRI test phase
The main objective was to adapt the SRI technical framework to the Cypriot context. This included defining requirements for the qualification and accreditation of SRI experts, as well as proposing conditions for an independent control system for SRI certificates.
Representative buildings were assessed to determine their SRI, followed by verification through a larger sample. In total, more than 500 building assessments were carried out during the test phase.
For the evaluations, the Smart-Ready-Go SRI calculator developed under the Smart Square project was used, with results validated against the SRI2MARKET calculator.
